Update on Breeding Pair of Jellybeans

I posted about a month ago that I have gotten a pair of breeding jellybeans from a lady that had been selling the babies from them. I tried setting up my tank as close to her's as possible, but they have laid eggs 3 times but never hatched.

After all this, I was wondering if a could add a pure convict. Should I get just another male or pair? Any advice please?

Thanks,
Kolton

Daffodil Brichardi

I am wondering how aggressive these fish are. I have four BP's about an inch n half, 2 yellow labs ( 1 1/2") and the daffodil's are also about 1 1/2". I guy as work want's to give them to me.

egg bound?

I am almost sure baby has laid eggs (again) although I cant spot them, but I think she may have one"stuck" for the last two days, although its just possible that what i am seeing is the ovipositor which is retracting and whiter than usual, she wont stay still long enough for me to have a proper look, she isn't eating much but she never does if she is defending eggs, and otherwise is swimming and acting normally, is there anything I should do, Iv given extra roughage but should I not feed for a day or so, up to now Im happy to watch and hope shell pass it or reabsorb it, I havent got a spare

where are you?

Quick poll, every morning when I get up there's been a load of postings overnight and when Im online Im on my own, I know we have a map but roughly, wheres everyone from? Im Northern England,UK

blue congo/parrots/firemouth/severums and on and on and on!!!!

blue Congo's are also known as yellowfin tetras or yellow fin tetras and are African characins, who seem to thrive with south American cichlids, very peaceful schooling fish, need a big tank, can grow to 5cms in the aquarium, not picky eaters, they are beautiful fluorescent fish, silvery with a red strip and a blue one underneath along the body, males more colourful than the females, the dorsal fin develops into a long feathery fin, they can be occasional fin nippers but mine leave my parrots well alone, but I wouldn't put them with Angels I have decided to wait until my new tank is up and runni

Fry

I have a breeding pair of Parrots, and I am looking for someone to take the fry off my hands. I will continue to breed them as long as they want to breed. I was told that the male was sterile but I have fry swimming around. Anyone that wants any, please message me. I do not know much about them. I am new to this all, I have had them for 4 whole months now, and they breed and killed off the other fish in the tank. They killed both of my oscors.

how many dollars?

I am compiling a short list of fish now to go into a new 50 gall tank with 6 blue congos and a pair of parrots, either one or two severums (maybe a bit cramped) OR one or two firemouths(may be a little aggressive if spawning) OR another one or two parrots OR a group of silver dollars(how many could I put in?), how about one more parrot AND some silver dollars ? every time I visit a LFS, they try to steer me towards whatever they have in stock!

Mt new kids

I have just purchased 3 new parrot fish approximately 1 year olds. In a separate tank I have some incredible discus but these are my first parrot fish so any info and help would be welcome. I also breed sailfin mollies and angel fish - totally insane but that is me. If anybody out there can give me some advice on these beautitful fish I would be very grateful. They have settled in very well - still a bit wary but am sure in time will realise that they are in fish heaven and will be loved unconditionally whatever they do.

Ghost Knife Fish

Has anyone tried ghost knife fish as tankmates with BPS.

firemouth

can anyone advise whether a firemouth would be a better choice than a severum in a 50 gal with two parrots

still thinking!!!

Still thinking, can I have two severums and two parrots in 60 gall tank?

Green Parrot

Someone mentioned about green parrots the other day.

I found a pair of green parrots at our LFS in India. Actually I was shocked because I never dreamt of seeing one here.

The fish does not have any markings like the flower horn and is plain green like a normal parrot fish.

Is there anyway I could check whether the fish is dyed or not? Because I do not want to end up with a dyed parrot.

cant make a simple decision

kilin parrots are really hard to find here, so I have read up and severums seem to be a good choice for a 60 gall tank which will house my male and female parrots( which have been together for about three years), I am thinking of getting two females(am not wanting them to breed) so my two wont gang up on the newcomers, plus my male parrot will still be the only boy there, other option would be to add two female parrots, all these fish will stay with me for their lifetime, and I dont envisage ever upgrading again, so I want it to be right, have I the room?

freshwater butterfly fish

does anyone here have any experience with this type of fish? i seen one in a fish store and i really liked them. they would be a great top dwealing fish for my tank.

angelfish

Hi Waldoparrot...thanks for your advice regarding angelfish needing at least 30 gallons. I planned to do some research before I started because I have never had them before...but your advice that they need at least 30 gallons is noted. I thought they might need more than the 20 gallon. Well, I have a ways to go before I can get any, but will keep you posted. Thx again.

PS All of you in the USA, remember that every vote counts so I hope you are getting out to be counted today.
