Baby Parrots

Hello!

This is my first post on this site. I recently acquired a 25 gallon tank (I plan on upgrading to a 55 gallon tank within a year). I had a community of 2 gouramis, 1 yo-yo loach, 4 platys, and a clown pleco. There is a pet store in town that hasa very large aquariam section, and I asked them what types of fish I could add to my community. I ended up purchasing 2 angel Koi fish, and I was VERY interested in the blood parrot fish. They had several bright orange/red parrots, but the gentleman at the store reccommened that I purchase a couple of baby parrot fish - as they were 1/2 the price of the adults and he sai it would be exciting to watch them grow. I ended up buying 3. I love them! They're very interactive with me and the other fish.

That all being said:

They are currently a greyish black color with what seems to be black strips in their center. The gentleman at the pet store said that they would turn into the bright red when they reach adulthood which would be in about a year. However, I did some online research, and it seems that not all baby parrots turn red, and that it could take anywhere from 4-12 months to reach adulthood. What color do baby parrots usually turn? And how long does it take?

Thank you!

Is this pet store Petsmart? Most of them turn orange as they grow and should start the process at anytime before they reach around 3". They will turn orange or yellow. It is recommended you upgrade as soon as you can, a 25 gallon isn't suitable for parrots as they grow.

I have 7 small parrot they are milky color, I bought them week age, they are bigger like 2.5cm or 3cm.I would like to know how many months or years you will take to chage color and to be like 7 or 8 cm

Is they are Pink Convicts they never will but if they are really Blood Parrots then within 3-4 months would be my guess.

Could you post a photo of your parrots?

Gonna a need another picture to be 100% sure but I'm pretty sure its just a short body Pink Convict and not a Blood Parrot.

that is a short bodied pink convict.

"It is recommended you upgrade as soon as you can, a 25 gallon isn't suitable for parrots as they grow." This is a polite understatement.

"2 gouramis, 1 yo-yo loach, 4 platys, and a clown pleco and 2 angel Koi fish and 3 baby parrots" are entirely to many for a 25 to begin with. I had 2 baby parrots in a 29 gallon and they were not doing well. You should either upgrade in the next 2 months or rehome the 3 parrots. Even if they appear healthy, you are stunting thier growth with the over abundance of bad water that is inevitable within the 25 gallon tank with that many fish. Even with high filtration and water changes, the health is at risk. I understand loving them as we all do, but upgrading in this case is a serious serious need. Just FYI. If the pictures that I saw were baby convicts, those little suckers are aggressive, so be careful.. rehome or replace soon. they might nip at your angels and platys alot...
