new owner

Hello All,

I am a new Blood Parrott Fish owner (I love them), I've had them for just over a week now and I have a few questions if any one would help. First I have 2 BP's in a 30gallon tank with 1 angel fish, 2 crayfish, and an alge eater, is this too many fish for one tank? The one BP always picks on the other BP, but nothing else.
Also is it normal for BP's to be so shy and skidish, every time someone walks by the tank the BP's run to the back of the tank and hide until noone is near the tank for a while. They are so pretty and I would love if they swim around more. Besides flakes and blood worms, is there any other food that they like? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks a bunch, Shannon!!!!

Re: new owner

Try getting a bigger tank.

You have cramped too many fishes....

Re: new owner

A 30 gallon is way too small for what you have. BP's reach between 6 to 8 inches when full grown plus you have to think about the girth of these fish because they aren't slender like the Angelfish. Also, an Angelfish will reach 6in when fully grown as well. Depending on your crayfish and algae eater you could have the same problem as well. A common pleco can reach up to 2 ft in length. I'm not real familiar with the crayfish but I'm sure that you can research their size online if you know their species. It seems around here on the BP website that a 40 gall for 2 BPs is generally recommended. That is with no other fish added. I would recommend at least a 55 for what you currently have but you do need to find out about your pleco. This still may be too small for him and he may need to go back. I hope this helps some. Another website that I like to use for info is wwwbadmanstropicalfish.com
This website is very useful in researching the size and compatibility of your fish.
