There are two species, both do well in brackish tanks but only one can go in freshwater, you tell the difference by the banding, in nature yellow and black stripes mean Im trouble leave me alone,these little fish are territorial and are always upping sticks(english expression) and moving to new housing if they don't like their neighbours,

I'm just curious...how big is your tank?
I wouldn't add gobies to freshwater. Everything I have read says that they will not do well in freshwater and since your tank is already established I wouldn't recommend adding salt to it.
