water changes
you should be doing a minimum of a 30% water change once a week, vacuuming the gravel as you go. i do 50 % every 4 to 5 days but i test my water often and try to make sure my nitrates stay below 40ppm. if i get a reading of 40ppm or higher, i do a water change. i like to see 5ppm after a water change. if you have bad water conditions, you can change 30% every day until they get back down to a reasonable level. ammonia, nitrite and high concentrations of nitrate all cause black spot as well as stress and even breeding.
Black spot
Black Spot is not a BIG disease as far as i know. as far as my experience goes i have removed the black stains on my parrots just by providing ideal living conditions (in terms of water quality, temperature, filtration, lighting... every aspect)
And BEWARE .. Never ever give shock to your fish while maintaining your tank. Fish stress is more accute, aggressive, and disease prone than human stress - so dont confuse the terminology of "stress" with the "human stress" that you might have in mind

parrot going black
whatever the cause the black should go once treated, are you doing those water changes?
Re: my fish are turning balck
I think black spots are mostly due to stress. Try changing water regularly and they will go...
black spot
I would do a 30% water change every day until gone(also check your water in case its chemical burn from chloride or ammonia) and I think you'll see an improvement almost immediately, if after say a week, ask at your pet shop about treatment for ich(black ich looks the same as white ich and is treated the same) but I think that the water changes will do it
Re: my fish are turning balck
oh, ic, will the black go away or should i separte them? I don't want them to be black all the time
black spots
its most likely black spot. black spot is sometimes caused by stress like adding a new fish or being picked on.
hello
Oh, ic, will the black spots go away, or should i separate them? i don't want to have them look like that all the time
Re: hello
sometimes it goes away.i remember i had one of my BPs in a 29 gallon and it had black spot when i put her in the new 55 gallon tank it went away.but i would do water changes 1 a week until it goes away
