I dont mean to sound funny but why on earth did you buy a fish you knew wasent in tip top condition?
Re: sugar
because i felt sorry for her.she was in such a small little tank.and i didn't realize the white spots until i got home and put the bag in the tank. her colour was gorgeos. it was deep orange with a tint of red.im never buying fish from that fish store again. i know somebody who worked there and said they constantly add fish to they're litlle tanks and the workers are told to clean the tanks once every 5 to 6 weeks.and i've had alot of bad luck with the fish i buy from there.

That's a shame,I have ruled out three of the four nearest shops because of either their conditions or stocking policies, its a good idea if you have a spare tank to isolate new fish for a while before adding to main tank, don't add water from the bag from the fish shop into your tank,( ich is free swimming at one point in its life cycle) float it by all means if you like to,then syphon some tank water into a bucket, net or scoop your fish into that ,then into the tank, and throw the pet shop water away, likewise, if you buy live foods for your fish, tip it into a net and rinse first PS don't forget,if you have other fish still in the tank sugar came from you need to treat it for ich or you'll keep getting it

Sorry to hear that. Do you mean that she had ick when you bought her? don't forget to treat your remaining fish even in quarantine in case they have ick already, ick is free swimming, if it doesn't find a host (ie in a empty tank ,it dies off in about a week)
Re: sugar
yeah she had when i brought her home. i'm treating them with an ick treatment one of my freinds gave me.he said that when he used this on his african cichlid tank it took 6 days till it was gone.
