A club for owners of Parrot Cichlids

I have a large beautiful Parrot fish in a 42 gal aquarium. Over the past few weeks, he has developed a bright red excrescence on one of his nares. His activity and feeding patterns are normal for him, tho his color paled for a few days and is now back again. I have added salt and Melaluca solution to the water, but this ? tumor ? inflammation continues to get worse. Any ideas ?

One of my BP died yesterday night. I don't know how and why. There were no signs of any disease... black or white spots. I just did a 100% water change yesterday

Could a pair of smaller yellow parrots which are more aggressive than my BP be the cause of this? The yellow parrots move very fast and aggressively in the tank. I don't think my ghost knife fish did something because they are way to small for the parrot and there are no marks on the parrots body...

What happened.

Ugh! I can't believe this. I am pretty sure my new 90 gallon tank is completely cycled and I was going to transfer Merrill and Punch into their new home this morning ... I went to start putting water in the bucket and noticed they have some faint white spots on them. I am guessing this is ick, (but I have never seen ick before) How in the world would I get it in my old/small tank? I added two cory catfish to the NEW tank yesterday just to make sure it was ok for my BPs, but I don't have any new fish in the small tank that my BP's are in now.

The aquarium is 20g. He used to live with a smaller parrot but sadly killed it. I just started adding salt water and changing about 25% of the water every week and the water is kept warm at all times. The lump is been there for at least one or two months; but about a day or two it started turning bloody. It looks like he is able to discharge feces. Recently he's been swimming sideways and trying to swim correctly. He eats normally and is of a bright color, thus his scales seem to be flaking a little. This are closer pictures of the mass.He/She is about 4 inches long.

my parrot is covered on his fins and eyes with a black ''film''. He is in a 33 hex w/ pleco, dempsey,fire mouth, gold fish, all of these fish are very young, like three weeks in this tank. somebody please help!!!!

I have two parrot cichlids in a 100 gallon tank. A few days ago my larger fish started acting strange, it became very pale and wasn't eating very much. Now, a few days later, it is still very pale, and a large bulge has been growing on one of its eyes. It's gills seem inflamed and are very red, and there is some stringy substance coming from what I imagine is the fish's rectum. Please respond, I am very worried. Thanks in advance!

I can see white spots on both my BPS. Their colour has also turned pale.

One of them is not eating and remains on the upper edge of the water always and is not moving around the tank.

Is it suffering from some disease or is it the water. I changed 25% of water in my tank yesterday. I feed them only blood worms.

Is something wrong? I am from India. So, please describe any medication for the BP in detail as all medications are not available in India.

hey guys.i just got ick in my tank and my pleco,my corycats and sugar just past away:(i took out annie and mickey out of the tank until i get things sorted out.they're in my 20 gal quarintin tank and are hiding and are all scared:(im very sad that sugar died.it was her second incounter with ick.when i bought her home she had ick and white spots and that's why i called her sugar. i buried her in my backyard...

I've had my blood parrot for about a year now and when I first go it, it was a bright color re/orange and looked healthy. Now Its pale and has a lump on it tale. It keeps growing. I've tried using aquarium salt but I don't see any improvement. It used to live with another smaller blood parrot but sadly killed it. Here are some images of it.

I have 2 large parrot fish in a 55 gallon tank. This biggest one, normally a bright orange has turned very white. He has what looks like ick around the all of his fins. He has been staying at the very top of the tank with his top fin above the water line. He has been very inactive. PH checked & good. Am I dealing with ick here?

All input is appreciated. Thanks!

BTW, The other parrot seems to be fine.
