Parrot Behavior

new owner

Hello All,

I am a new Blood Parrott Fish owner (I love them), I've had them for just over a week now and I have a few questions if any one would help. First I have 2 BP's in a 30gallon tank with 1 angel fish, 2 crayfish, and an alge eater, is this too many fish for one tank? The one BP always picks on the other BP, but nothing else.

HELP!

I have a 16 gallon tank, and when I started out I was wooed by the cute mannerisms of the Blood Parrot Cichlid, and I bought three of them. They were quite small, only about 2" long. After about 6 weeks, one of them jumped out of the tank. I believe that the jumper was being picked on by one of the other two. After he jumped, I noticed that one of the BPs was being very territorial, and the both of them spent most of their time hiding in the tank decorations.

My BPs bite me....

Hi. I have had two BP's (Merrill and Punch) for about 1.5 years. We love them to death and find them very amusing. In the 1.5 years they have grown 2.5 inches to be now about 3.5 inches each and are very healthy in spite of me not knowing what I was getting myself into. Merrill, the larger more agressive one - has always wanted to bite at me when I have my/hand or arm in the tank, but he (she? - not sure) is really getting out of hand lately. Is this normal behavior and is there something I can do that will stop it?

HELP---I NEED ADVISE ON MY PARROT CICHLID...

My fish is pale, but he is 5 years old...he also has not eaten in 4 weeks! Help would be appreciated!
thanks

parrot chase

Hi, I have two parrots (Annie and Sugar) and they're both females ( both laid eggs) and they use to love eachother but 2 days ago that all changed! Sugar started pushing and attacking Annie in to the corner. I don't now why she was doing was doing this. anyone know?

Parrots headbumping

My parrots seem to be headbumping eachother all of a sudden.

And I also see them circling eachother again and again. And it goes on and on. They keep circling eachother and finally end up in a head bump.

Are they trying to mate or is this plain fighting?

Do let me know if anyone has had the experience of parrots circling eachother.

Killer Blood Parrot!

Ok, here goes.....I have a 55 gallon tank with 2 Blood Parrot females, 3 Jellybean Parrots (not dyed and only reach 3-4 inches) and 1 Angel....My concern is that my dominate female will kill any fish that is pestering her..I introduced a kissing guarmai 2 days ago out of quaritine, and the kisser would not stop kissing Gimpy...my dominate girl....it would also kiss on Jack...my 2nd in charge female Blood Parrot, but would leave the rest of the fish alone!

Stucky

I'm very glad I found this forum. I just got my fist blood parrot after wanting one for at least 6 months. My 5 year old's preschool has one and I've always loved it. Well, 'she' (cause I don't know what it is) is in the tank with a bunch of mollies we've had for a long time and all of a sudden I can't find her. After looking harder i found her practically under a mopani branch i have in there. Don't know how she did that, and she won't come out. That is when i 'goolged' the problem and found you guys.
